RIZZI VINERY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The World needs everyone's contribution to ensure future well-being and health.

It becomes imperative that every person not only become aware of their responsibilities, but also of their own choices and behaviors.

It is important to choose to lead a life that respects the environment and nature in every way, so as to safeguard our future.

A future that passes through respect for the environment and the production of renewable energy sources and without the introduction of harmful gas into the atmosphere.

"The protection of the environment and the enhancement of the territory are essential guidelines in the work of the Rizzi Company"

BIOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE
CANTINA RIZZI AGRICOLTURA BIOLOGICA TREISO PIEMONTE.jpg

The quality of the environment is considered a determining factor of production. This concept of respect for the environment is the leitmotif of the company philosophy of Cantina Rizzi, which has always followed and respects the objectives set by the EEC Regulation 2078/92 regarding:

-promoting the use of sustainable agricultural production methods that reduce the polluting effects of agriculture

-promoting forms of agricultural land management compatible with the protection and improvement of the environment, natural space, landscape, natural resources, soil and genetic diversity

Cantina Rizzi does not use weeding for mowing grass, does not use chemical fertilizers.

Bracelets with pheromones are used as a practice of sexual confusion for the abolition of insecticides.

That of Cantina Rizzi is a philosophy of action, based on respect for the earth and the use of "clean" energy, in order to respond to different environmental emergencies (climate change, overheating of the Earth, desertification, drought, increase in energy consumption , ...) and to the improvement of the natural ecosystem, with a careful eye towards the protection of groundwater and people's health.

"It is little compared to the world scene - explains Ernesto Dellapiana - but it is a small mustard seed thrown into the earth, which can sprout and become a large tree"

SOLAR POWER

November 9th 2006

On  top of the Farmhouse and the Rizzi cellar have been installed 117 solar panel modules covering 149,76 square meters. More than 90% of the electrical energy requirement of the winery is provided by 19,80 kW photovoltaic panels installed on a roof (structure inclined 35 degrees, south facing).
The energy produced by the solar panels enters the electrical network at a low voltage via an inverter, and is therefore available for all the winery's electricity needs. Any excess electrical energy is sold and entered into the capital system, passing a counter into the city's electrical grid and vice versa. The winery can also collect electricity from the grid when large quantities are needed in shorter periods of time. In this way the winery is guaranteed an all time ecological energy source.

Dellapiana Ernesto says: "Protection of the environment and exploitation of the territory are essential guidelines in the Rizzi’s operations. The quality of the environment is regarded as a factor of production that is the equal of many others: soil, climate, variety and choice of the type of cultivation. For that reason, RIZZI was among the first wine estates in Italy to adopt solar power for the production of electrical energy, since the sun’s rays are a clean and renewable source of power".

Dellapiana said that the solar power system has exceeded his expectations. "The amount of power being generated has been incredible, even with the fog and in the winter", he continued. "At the moment the performance has been better than expected. They are very happy with what is being produced."

At the moment of inauguration (November 2006) Rizzi was one of the largest solar winery of Italy and the biggest of Piedmont.
